About ME &
THE PROCESS
Brian S. Rodgers, LPC-S, NCC
I am a proud alum of the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Counselor Education program (MA 12/2000) where I served as the President of the Zeta Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota. I have been an LPC since 2005 and a LPC-S since 2011. I am also a National Certified Counselor (2006-Present).
I currently work in the school counseling arena, serving as a District Interventionist for Hoover City Schools. I am also a certified School Counselor. Previously I served as the Dean of Counseling & Residential Life for Indian Springs School. Prior to that I served nine years as a counselor and Associate Director of The Amelia Center at Children's of Alabama. I also have served as Director of the Employee Assistance Program for Behavioral Health Systems- providing client companies from throughout the country with wellbeing-focused programs and services.
I am also a am also a Disruptive Event Management consultant with R3Continuum (since 2000). I have assisted with responses to bank robberies, employee deaths, downsizing events, and national crises including Hurricane Katrina and the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida.
I believe that the supervision process should be as minimally stressful as possible. I feel that during the process both parties learn and grow together. I have provided clinical supervision for ALCs practicing in recovery centers, school settings and nonprofits since 2011.
I feel that technology allows us to have a very active communication stream and am available to my supervisees whenever they might need support.
I also feel that as counselors, we have an obligation to give back to our communities. I find that through service, I am renewed and encouraged. I have been an active member of Kiwanis International, the world's largest organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the lives of children, for the past 20 years. I currently serve as a Lt. Governor for the Alabama District and was District Governor in 2014-2015, the organization's Centennial Year.

THE PROCESS
INITIAL CONSULTATION
During the initial consultation meeting (online or in-person) we discuss supervision, the expectations, current caseloads, education background and clinical settings, etc.
Prospective ALCs will receive a Professional Disclosure Form that details my background, approach, process and fees. On that note, the monthly fee is $275 and covers all services for that month. This comes out to less than $60/week on average. Payment is via Venmo, Cash App, or check.
SECOND CONSULTATION
We will schedule a second meeting to develop a Proposed Plan of Supervision. This will be the meeting where we develop the our plan for the two+ years that we will be meeting weekly. With a full an active caseload, it takes a little over 2 years to reach the 3,000 required client contact hours. Prospective ALCs will submit this to the Board of Examiners with their application and payment.
UPON APPROVAL
Supervision will begin and hours will begin to be tracked once an ALC license is in hand.
Upon approval weekly face-to-face direct and indirect supervision meetings will occur. ALCs will be issued an online Drive to store a copy of their license, all ABEC documentation and have access to an editable Supervision Log where they can track their hours.
Prior to the 1 year anniversary of ALC certificate issuance, we will review progress and complete an Annual Supervision Progress Report. We will sign, scan to drive, notarize (if needed) and submit. When the 3,000 supervised client hours are completed we will do the same with a Final Supervision Progress Report (or at the termination of the supervision relationship for any reason).
Weekly supervision sessions are generally comprised of:
Case review
Continuing Education Review
Sharing Relevant Counseling Tools & Perspectives
Sharing CE Opportunities
Ethics Discussions
Treatment Planning
Literature Review
Homework/ Personal Processing
Evaluation of the Process and Adjustment of Growth Goals
Review of Hour Log
The process is very personalized according to the growth areas discussed with the individual ALC.
Group Supervision sessions may also be scheduled, if all parties are interested. This is beneficial, as participants get to hear perspectives from those practicing in another area.
